PM Nawaz inaugurates the Coastal Power Project
Addressing the ceremony‚ PM said Pakistan will produce 40‚000 MW from nuclear plants till 2050.
Prime Minister Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has said that
initiating power projects and overcoming power shortage is the top
priority the government. He was addressing the ground-breaking ceremony of the Coastal Power Project‚ K-II and K-III in Karachi today.
The projects is the largest nuclear power project of the country will be completed within 72 months in cooperation with China and will add 2200 megawatt of electricity in the national grid on completion.
The Prime Minister said it is his utmost priority that power shortage is reduced at the earliest so that development process could continue without any hindrance.
He said that he is grateful to China for their help and support in several projects‚ particularly the power generation projects.
Nawaz Sharif said that Pak-China friendship is time-tested and historic and it will further deepen with the joint ventures in different sectors.
He said that Pakistan and China have jointly carried out several mutually beneficial projects.
The Prime Minister said it is worth mentioning that agreement for Pakistan’s first nuclear power plant at Chashma was signed with China by his previous government.
